Pre-Photoshoot Checklist

checklist-featured

Proper preparation is essential to achieving the best results from your real estate photoshoot. Taking the time to get ready will greatly enhance the quality of your photos, making them more appealing to potential buyers. Here are some key areas to focus on before your photo appointment.

Take a look outside

Imagine yourself stepping outside your home. The first thing that catches your eye is the exterior - the 'curb appeal.' Whether someone is browsing photos online or visiting in person, that initial impression can make all the difference. Here are some valuable tips to ensure your property leaves a lasting impact.

  1. Yard and Landscaping

    • Having a beautiful front yard with colorful flowers and plants can really make your home stand out. When prospective buyers see your home online, the first thing they notice is the outside. Don't worry if your yard is not ready for the cover of Better Homes & Gardens; a simple mowing and some mulch here and there will go a long way!  So, ensure your lawn was recently cut and free from anything appearing overgrown of unkept.

  2. Driveways & Sidewalks

    • How does the driveway look? Simple pressure washing is affordable and can really spruce up a dirty driveway. The same goes for the sidewalks. Are there obstructions (trash cans, etc.) that might distract from the image's main focus? Oh, and one more thing—while we know you adore your car, potential homebuyers might not be too interested in seeing it in the photos, so let's plan to park it elsewhere just long enough to shoot the exterior photos.

  3. Unsightly Elements

    • Building on Step #2, it's essential to scan for any unsightly elements that might detract from your real estate photography, like tricycles left on freshly mowed lawns, water hoses tangled over rusty pipes, and stray garden shovels sticking out of the soil. In real estate photography, simplicity is key.

  4. Window & Doors

    • Just a heads-up: windows and doors can really pop in photos under certain lighting. If you have a moment, give them a quick once-over. Front and garage doors tend to get a bit grubby from everyday use, but a speedy wipe with the right cleaner and a rag should do the trick. It might be a small effort, but it'll help us capture the best results for you!

How about the interior?
  1. Let's Keep It Clean!
    • Getting ready for interior shots? Make sure your home is super clean and tidy. That means neatly made beds, clean carpets and rugs, empty sinks, showers, bathtubs, and wiped surfaces and mirrors. Remember, small details matter in real estate photography! Try hiding electric wires and arranging furniture in a visually appealing way.
    • If your home is furnished or currently lived in, remove any decorations that might be personal or distracting to the viewer.
